Editor:

Dick Dixon is an extraordinary Colorado historian.

"Chaffee County's Unsuccessful Struggle to Gain Territory from its Neighbors," by Dick Dixon not only provides the readers of Colorado Central Magazine with some interesting, little-known history, but it also illustrates why Dixon is one of Colorado's great historians. Dixon provides us with valuable background information on the cause of the dispute in a readable, detailed manner. He also covers the small towns founded in this area and when they were abandoned. Nowhere else will readers find such a clear, well-organized, border-war story.
