I stand corrected. After talking with Susan Tweit and "birding" with Virginia Simmons (Monte Vista), we've concluded our bird is actually the Eurasian Collared Dove. The new Sibley guide provides a good comparison with the Ringed Turtle.... Looks like we have a few mating pairs -- cool! The "Owens" sighting still stands, however.
