>1-act plays sought

We buy a fair amount of prose every year, and there are local and regional publications for poetry and fiction. And now, if you write drama, there's a chance to have your work staged in Salida.

The Mountain Valley Players are sponsoring their second contest for unproduced and unpublished one-act plays, and the winning entries will be produced this fall at the Salida Steam Plant Theater.

The contest is open to all authors living or attending school in Colorado. Plays must run less than 35 minutes on one simple set, and ease of production and small cast size are major considerations.

Playwrights may submit more than one play. The submission must include three copies of each play with no author identification, along with a cover sheet with the author's name and contact information, as well as the title and first dialogue line. There is a $5 fee for each submission, payable to Mountain Valley Players, and submissions must be postmarked by Feb. 15.

Submissions should go to Mountain Valley Players, Attn: Jessica Saunders, 10600 County Road 120, Salida CO 81201. You can write to that address for more information, or contact Saunders at 719-539-3700, jessica@lightgatherings.com .
