Suggested Pledges of Allegiance to the Colorado flag

I swear a solemn oath of allegiance to the Colorado state flag and to the currently smaller government for which it stands. One conservative State, under the Christian triune God, with lower taxes for the high-income victim class and fewer services for the low-income lucky duckies.  I promise to always address the state flag as my liege with a little bow.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of Colorado, and to the sports teams for which it stands. I pledge to never root for teams from another state as long as competition with Colorado teams is still possible.  I promise to spend more on sports than on education or care for the indigent.  I promise to wave the US flag enthusiastically while the rights guaranteed by the US Constitution are compromised by our state leaders. I pledge to support the environment as long as I can drive my SUVs and ATVs without restriction, so that the beauty of our state is only compromised by me.  I promise to be compassionate as long as I don't have to spend a dime on the children of illegals and immoral teenage girls, even though they didn't ask to be born. I promise to laugh at Californians and residents of Boulder, and pretend that I know more than they do.

I pledge allegiance to Colorado's flag, and to the state with the blue spruce tree. Your majestic mountains and golden plains are perched high in the land of the free. To its wildlife and its wilderness, and its beautiful sky, I pledge that your greatness shall never die. O, Centennial, with your golden sun, cast down your light on me.

Jillian Benedict of Denver

I pledge alliance with the State of Colorado and to the tourists whenever they come. I vow to admire the mountains, plains, blue skies and sunshine and after two overcast days in a row to grumble something about Seattle to everyone I meet. I further pledge to hold the state legislature in contempt and drive the largest vehicle I can afford and to complain on a regular basis about how crowded my beautiful state has become.

Roger Dudley

I pledge allegiance to the flag of Colorado, even though I am not sure if it is upside down or not, and to the state for which it stands, urban sprawl and all. One state under the Deity of my choice, with liberty and justice for all, except for Oakland Raider and Nebraska Cornhusker fans.

Mike Kozak, Fort Collins

I pledge allegiance to the truth that Colorado people and culture belong to the land; and mindful that we do not own the land, but borrow it from our children, we charge our leaders to lead by obeying a well and truly informed public, and limit our government to matters ensuring peace, sustainability and justice for all beings.

Bruce McNaughton of Denver

I pledge my heart
to the land
we now call Colorado.

Beautiful, dangerous, and unpredictable, I will not bend it to my will.
I promise to become a Coloradan.

Steve Roberts, Colorado Native

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Right-Wing State of Colorado. And to the Republican values for which it stands: intolerance, bigotry, corruption, greed, fear, war-mongering, prevarication, and bullying. One state, redistricted, under a Christian God, with liberty for corporations and campaign contributors, and tax cuts for all.

Tim Lucas

Flag of Colorado,
We "C" your red, white and blue.
Protect us from Texas
and California too.

James R. Kunkel of Denver

I pledge allegiance to the colorful State of Colorado,
To cultivate and preserve its historical places and events,
Conserve its natural resources,
Protect its water, land, and wildlife from corporate exploitation and gated communities.

To politely tell tourists thanks for visiting, now go home,
And to steadfastly strive for the impeachment of Gale Norton,
So help me whatever God I believe in, if any.

Dick Pierce

I pledge allegiance to sneaky Colorado Republicans legislators, who after losing a mandatory posting of "IN GOD WE TRUST" bill, the next day proposed a forced pledge bill under the guise of patriotism with liberty for all.

Jeff Baysinger

I pledge support to the people of Colorado to have food, shelter and health care, even if it means higher taxes, and to the environment on which we all depend, with transportation and justice for all.

Mary Brewerton of Denver

I feign allegiance to the flag of the headwater State of Colorado, and to the concepts for which it stands -- one state, highly divisible, with groundwater and TABOR for all. May this centerpiece of the Great Flyover continue to provide wealthy invaders with imported trout, amusement parks and tickets to Bronco games, while sharing warm tales of the Ute, Anasazi, elk, grizzly and wolves that formerly occupied this Purple Mountain Majesty. May our great interstates aid the flow of credit cards to Vail and Aspen, may our wheat farms deign to share water for urban faucets, and may the enlightened Republicans look kindly on ex-Colorado governors in their search for charismatic, yet compliant, populists.

Pat Crane

Here is my all-inclusive multi-lateral pledge to be said, sung or hummed:

The Eyes of Texas are upon you.

Irving Bennett

I pledge allegiance to the flag of Colorado. and to the State for which it stands, bumpy parts, flat parts, paved parts and private parts (No Trespassing) and to the motto we all know, "Chop it down, pave it over, fish it out, dig it up and shoot it."

Under God, except for Boulder, insert private deity or deities, personal route to enlightenment or salvation or just clean bowels.  Texans go home and talk to your own damn flag.

Fred Koster of Nederland

I pledge allegiance yes I do
I'll never support the ACLU.
Free speech is over-rated today
in post 9-11 US of A.
I won't contradict, I won't talk back
(Hey, isn't that how they do it in Iraq?)
I pledge to spy on liberals who are soft
and I'll censor their e-mail just like Ashcroft.
I'll be a good egg, no party-pooper
and I'll act like I''m excited about Hickenlooper.
And I pledge whenever Bush votes for war
I'll secede with Colorado in 2004.

E. McManis

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the finest state in the nation .... to the Colorado of peaks and plains ... of beauty and wonder ... a place of strength and courage for all.

Corky Perry of Grand Junction

Si(C), Señor

Greg Kaufman of Chicago

I pledge non-allegiance to the flag of Colorado, and to the selfish Governor and legislature for which it stands: one state under TABOR, divisible into the haves and have-nots, that provides neither liberty nor justice for its disabled citizens.

Ed Arnold of Boulder
(Parent of an adult child with disabilities)

I pledge allegiance to Governor Owens and the Republicans' arrogance for which he stands.  One Republican state and nation for which Karl Rove and Tom DeLay strive.  I pledge to honor our Governor, the self-proclaimed "Supreme Executive Power," and to disavow all inferiors in our state government such as the Attorney General, who so disgracefully wants to represent the people of the state. In this pledge, I relinquish my right to vote in the Presidential Primary, and give up my freedom from coercion in what I say.  Oh, and, Amen.

Gloria Johnston

I pledge allegiance to the flag of Colorado and to the Republicans for whom it flies.  One State, under theocratic plutocrats, divisible by redistricting for an eternity of limited liberty and inequal justice for all.

Larae W. Essman of Estes Park

I pledge allegiance to the State of Colorado, and to its flag, that I will tread lightly upon its land, conserve its waters, respect the rights of all who abide within its borders, and will, to the best of my ability, uphold its Constitution.
