Grief can often be confusing and difficult to understand. Talking with someone who has shared a similar experience of loss may be helpful in working through your grief. There are numerous support groups that meet throughout Wichita to help anyone during the grieving process. This is a partial list of local grief support organizations:

The Compassionate Friends

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive. Good Grief of Kansas

Good Grief of Kansas is a self-help, non-profit organization providing local support services to bereaved men and women in Wichita, Kansas, and throughout the surrounding area. Good Grief of Kansas serves bereaved individuals through self-help support groups, social activities and other services, thereby encouraging bereaved individuals to learn to deal with living without their loved one. Bereaved individuals result because of a death of a family member or close friend and seek help during the bereavement period.

Support groups and special events for bereaved persons are held weekly throughout the Wichita Metro area. All services are free and open to any adult who is grieving.

Grief Share

GriefShare is designed to help you successfully travel the journey from mourning to joy. You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. Parents of Murdered Children

Parents of Murdered Children provides the on-going emotional support needed to help parents and other survivors facilitate the reconstruction of a “new life” and to promote a healthy resolution. Not only does POMC help survivors deal with their acute grief, but also helps with the criminal justice system.

Kidzcope – formerly Three Trees, Inc. – is a non-profit, independent organization providing support and a comforting environment for grieving children and their families. Children between the ages of 3 and 18 years can find comfort, healing and – most importantly – hope. Kidzcope offers a variety of support groups, programs and workshops to help children and families struggling with the death of a loved one.
