Anne Katherine (Lyon) Coffin passed away on July 23, 2024. A private family service has been held. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, service, and love that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on August 24, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas, Anne's life was filled with passion and purpose. She graduated from Wichita East High School and attended Kansas State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1955. While at Kansas State, Anne was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Later, while living in Wichita, she was a member of PEO, Junior League of Wichita, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Kansas Oil Painters Society. 

Anne's life was one of creativity and passion. She pursued her love for art diligently, honing her skills under the guidance of esteemed mentors and participating in various art shows where her work shone brightly. Her artistic talent was recognized with prestigious awards like the Best of Show Awards for pieces such as "A Place of Worship" and "Wagons Ho!", solidifying her reputation as a gifted artist. Not only did she excel in the realm of art, but Anne was also deeply involved in genealogy, leaving behind a legacy in written works that explored her family history for future generations to cherish. Her contributions to the cultural heritage of Lincoln County, Kentucky, will be cherished for years to come.

Anne's faith was a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her family's role as founding members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wichita, Kansas. She served the church community with unwavering dedication, holding positions on the Vestry and as Sr. Warden. Her commitment to faith and service extended beyond the church walls, as she generously gave her time to various charitable organizations and volunteering efforts.

Anne was a true lady in every sense of the word. Her warm presence touched the lives of many who knew her, leaving an indelible mark of kindness and love. To her son, Christopher K. Coffin, she was not only a mother but also a source of inspiration, strength, and a true friend. 

In addition to Christopher, Anne is survived by her daughter, Catherine and Kirk Kennedy of Des Moines, NM; and three grandchildren. She was preceded by her son, Stewart Benjamin Coffin.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Mark Arts, 1307 N. Rock Rd, Wichita, KS 67206.

As we mourn the loss of Anne Katherine (Lyon) Coffin from our earthly midst, let us take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on!
