Austin Haddock

Austin T. Haddock, 37, was found to have passed away on September 4, 2026, having most likely suffered a cardiac event triggered by undetected heart arrhythmia. Austin was born in Wichita, Kansas, on November 10, 1988, to Brad and Terri Haddock and lived most of his years in Wichita. When a toddler, a congenital heart defect was found, and surgery was performed to repair the hole at age three. Sadly, it was this patch that made him more prone to experience Afib as an adult.

He grew up at GraceFirst Evangelical Free Church and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young child. He loved Legos, John Williams' movie soundtracks, reading, and watching sci-fi classics, like Star Wars. As a student, he was active in youth ministries, including youth worship team, summer camps, national conferences, inner city missions trips, and Bible study. He graduated from Andover High School in 2007. From fifth grade through his senior year, he played the clarinet in the Andover music program. He was also a Boy Scout, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and serving as an active member of the Order of the Arrow. He worked at Philmont Scout Ranch as a Trail Crew Foreman for many years. He graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice.

Throughout his life, he struggled with many health challenges that were difficult for medical professionals to pin down. At age 30, he was finally diagnosed with long-term Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses, most likely initiated by a childhood tick bite. While he was eventually treated, he experienced long-term health issues. Even though his health limited him in many ways, he continued to seek better health and wellness, especially through his faith in God.

He is most remembered as a sincere and loyal friend and follower of Christ. His friends and family enjoyed his intellect, his unique sense of humor, and the fun of playing video games, watching sci-fi movies, and hiking with him. His family remembers that he gave the best hugs! He was faithful to Christ and left a testimony of perseverance and love.

He was preceded in death by his father Bradley Haddock and is survived by his mother Terri Haddock, his sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Gerard Pryor, nephews William, Edward and Frederick, and nieces Genevieve and Beatrice, all of Saint Marys KS.
