Barbara J. (Swisher) Glenn, 91, passed from this earth and entered eternal rest on  Monday, May 5, 2025. Memorial Service to be held Monday, June 16, 11:00 am, at Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th Street, Wichita.

Mrs. Glenn was born July 27, 1933, in Lyndon, Kansas. She was the youngest of four children born to Lyall and Lottie Swisher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dwight E. Glenn, an infant son Scott Edwin Glenn, her parents, sisters Mary Jane and Nadine, and brother Edwin. Survivors: son, Phillip (Marlene) Glenn of Wichita; daughter, Jennifer (Steve Williams) of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren Scott (Cara) Glenn of Overland Park, Kansas, Emily (Brian) Stockton of Wichita, and Spencer (Margie) Glenn of Leawood, Kansas; great grandchildren Lilly Glenn, Molly Glenn, Annie Glenn, Tommy Stockton, Ben Stockton, and Kit Glenn.

Following her graduation from Lyndon High School in 1951, Barbara attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Music Education. Afterward she taught music in Sabetha and Wamego, Kansas, and was married to Dwight on August 18, 1956. Following his graduation from Kansas State University in 1959, Barbara and Dwight moved to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas again, and Illinois before locating to Wichita in 1967.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loyal and active member of Woodland United Methodist Church for nearly 58 years, sharing her musical talents, serving as UMW President, and in many other capacities throughout her life. She was a member of P.E.O. for over 60 years (Chapter DJ), serving twice as Chapter President. Barbara also served on the Board of the Wichita–Sedgwick County Historical Society and was a loyal supporter of Music Theatre of Wichita, the Wichita Symphony, and her alma mater, the University of Kansas.
