Betty Lane

Betty L. (Munkres) Brush Lane, 95, retired sheet metal assembler at Boeing Aircraft Company, died Friday, July 4, 2025. Open viewing will be from 3:00-5:00pm, Tuesday, July 8, at Broadway Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 9, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Towanda Cemetery. Betty was born on March 7, 1930, in Meno, Oklahoma to Earl and Juanita Munkres. The family moved to Ames, Oklahoma, where Betty was raised and attended school. Later they moved to California, where she finished high school. Following her education, Betty moved back to Ames to help her sister with her new baby. After a year, Betty moved with her mother to Wichita and began a 33-year career at Boeing Aircraft Company. On February 11, 1953, Betty's son, Billy Dean Tharp, was born. He was a wonderful, loving and caring son. He served in Vietnam from 1972 to 1976 on the Minute Man Missile program. On March 31, 1971, Betty and Dale Brush were united in marriage. On February 8, 1975, after four short years of marriage, Dale was unexpectedly killed in an accidental explosion at Boeing. Eleven years later, on May 28, 1982, Betty married Dwight W. Lane. This marriage lasted until June 25, 1996, when Dwight died of a stroke. On April 21, 2008, Betty's son, Billy, died after battling leukemia. It was during this time, that Betty started attending Immanuel Baptist Church. On November 23, 2008, she was baptized and became a church member. She always felt welcomed and loved by the people at Immanuel Baptist, as well as her friends and staff at Regent Park Assisted Living. Betty is survived by a daughter-in-law, stepdaughter, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Immanuel Baptist Church.
