Carolyn June (Jones) Strother, 91, died October 15, 2025, at her home. She was born June 12,1934, the youngest of four children, to Llewelyn and Rosanna (Hughes) Jones on the family farm south of Wymore, Nebraska.
She taught school for two years at District 145 country school and was a bookkeeper and secretary to the President of Store Kraft Mfg. Company in Beatrice, NE.
On November 23, 1956, she married Dale W. Strother, and they lived in Chicago for three years then moved to Wichita, Kansas. They enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and multiple trips to Europe.
Dale preceded her in death December 2, 2018. She was the mother of Beth (Jon) Coen, Martha Strother, and Jay (Cynthia) Strother, and Nana to Matthew Coen, Sarah (Keallan) Dowells, Garrett Strother, and Claire Strother.
Carolyn enjoyed keeping scrapbooks, sewing, volunteering, cooking, genealogy, and playing the piano, organ, and French horn. She was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church since 1982 and served as a Sunday School teacher, President of the Women's Group, and Bible study leader. She was ordained as an elder in 1993 and served as Clerk of Session. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter BP, and held several offices. She also served on the Board of the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project.
A memorial service will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Road, Wichita, Kansas, 67206, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1:30pm, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials have been established with Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Road, Wichita, KS 67206 and Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project, PO Box 253, Wymore, NE 68466.
