Charles Bargdill

Charles Edwin "Ed" Bargdill Jr. (August 3, 1930 - January 10, 2023), USMC Korean War veteran, Retired Wichita Police Department Lieutenant, retired Boeing employee, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023 at the age of 92. Survived by sons Randy (Victoria) and Brett (Carrie), 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. (Sr.) and Marie Bargdill, beautiful wife Beverly, son Kevin.

Growing up on a farm during the great depression, Charles lived a modest and frugal life. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He met his bride, Beverly, after serving his enlistment. They married in August 1955 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage (which he fondly and jokingly referred to as "grinding hell") before her death in April 2017. Charles joined the Wichita Police Department October 1956. He was a devoted father to three sons. A dedicated provider who often worked part-time jobs to support his family. He retired from the Wichita Police Department in 1976, after 20 years of service. He worked as a material handler at Boeing Aircraft until his final retirement.

Charles lived his life without complaint or regrets. Per his wishes, a private family memorial will be observed. He said, "All the people that knew me are either dead or too old to travel the distance to attend a funeral". He always told it like he saw it.
