Charles N. Coltrain , 97, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Wichita. His faith and hope were in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 6, at First Evangelical Free Church. Charles was born March 26, 1920 to Jesse Newton and Fleeta Arnetta (Sweeney) Coltrain in Neodesha, KS. He attended schools in the Neodesha area and worked as a farmer and a grocery store employee. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He married Ruth Marie Hemphill in Lawrence, KS on April 13, 1946. He was an active member of the Bethel Church of God near Neodesha. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; a brother, Wayne Coltrain; a son, Charles Eugene Coltrain; and a granddaughter, Megan Coltrain. He is survived by two sisters, Helen Jackson and Vivian Pierce of Rohnert, CA; his sons, Tom (Jean) Coltrain of Fort Wayne, IN; and Terry (Jo) Coltrain of Park City, KS; and a daughter, Judy (Jeffery) Ketchum of Guthrie, OK. He had seven grandchildren, Alan (Tanya) Coltrain, Andrea (Chad) McKenna, James Coltrain, Tim (Ashlee) Coltrain, Andrew (Alex) Coltrain, Laura Ketchum, and Anna Ketchum, and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Coltrain, Harrison Coltrain, Benjamin Coltrain, and Linden Mckenna.
