Charles Edward Heck was born on January 25, 1977 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Douglas and Susan Heck. His earthly days, graciously numbered by God, came to an end on July 3, 2024 at the age of 47 in Lake George, Colorado.
Charles was a dedicated husband to Annie for 23 years, a devoted and fun-loving dad to their three curly-haired boys, and a caring son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Like his father, Charles was one-of-a-kind: a collector of PEZ dispensers, namer of all his vehicles (Sharut, Malachi, Yoda), finder of hole-in-the-wall restaurants, stockpiler of serious Christian books, and jersey-wearing fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. His zest for life made him pull off the road at every unique spot he saw on the many family trips he planned.
Named after pastors Charles Spurgeon and Jonathan Edwards, Charles loved shepherding the churches he served. He was a humble and faithful pastor, lifelong student of Scripture, trusted Bible teacher, wise counselor, and active writer. He loved talking theology and ministry with his bibliophile dad. Yet with all his intellect, Charles was a real pastor-the kind who taught you books of the Bible, cared about your spiritual growth, took you to lunch, visited you in the hospital, talked gleefully with your kids, and always put your interests above his own.
Over the course of his life, Charles was a respected graduate of Union High School (1995), The Master's College (1999), and The Master's Seminary (2002). Following God's calling, he served as a deacon and Bible study leader at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA (2000-2002), Youth Pastor at Grace Bible Church in Tulsa, OK (2002-2004), Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church in Broken Arrow, OK (2004-2013), and Teaching Pastor at Wichita Bible Church in Wichita, KS (2014-2024). When the Lord took him home, Charles was in his eleventh year faithfully shepherding the beloved saints of WBC.
Charles is preceded in death by his father Doug, and survived by his beloved wife Andrea, his sons Jackson (19), Josiah (17), and Ethan (13), his mother Susan, and his younger sister Cindi.
