Cheryl Hill

Cheryl Lynn Wisdom Hill, 71, died September 1, 2026. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on September 6, 1954, the second child of Stan Wisdom and Norma Jean Prigmore. At 12 years old, she moved to Augusta, Kansas after her mother married Louis Weiss and blended the two Wisdom kids with the five Weiss kids. Cheri received a master’s degree from Arizona State University. She married the love of her life, Dave Hill, on July 13, 2001, in Estes Park, Colorado.

Cheri lived a beautiful life, full of family and friends. She was a teacher for 45 years, teaching in Topeka, Phoenix, and Wichita. She still told stories of her students and colleagues who meant so much to her. Cheri and Dave enjoyed traveling together, especially to the Caribbean and New York City. She was an avid hiker and loved playing pickleball. Her family and friends meant so much to her. In 2022, she and Dave moved to Amarillo, Texas to watch her five great nephews grow up. She loved seeing them excel in all their games, matches, shows, and more. They called her “Anut Cheri”.

Cheri was a light, a force. She loved deeply and cared greatly. She was wild and wonderful, and so wise when you needed her wisdom. She had the same friends for decades but made new friends everywhere she went. She had great questions and questionable humor. She was so incredibly loved.

Cheri is preceded in death by her father, Stan Wisdom; her mother, Norma Jean Weiss and stepfather, Louis Weiss; her brothers, Lee Weiss, Steve Wisdom, and Kurt Weiss; and her sister-in-law, Darla Weiss.

She is survived by her great love, Dave Hill; her brothers, Jay Weiss (Sharyn) and Jon Weiss; her sister, Laurie Weiss (Jon); her soul sister, Ruby Weiss; her bonus daughters, Cristin Betzen (Todd) and Melina Trow (David); her Amarillo family, Casey Weiss (Lisa); and her five great nephews, Dax, Hunter, Austin, Jensen, and Tracen.
