Chris, 70, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Fittingly, Independence Day was one of Chris’ favorite holidays, second only to Christmas. He loved the time it brought with family and friends, good food on the grill, and making memories with the people he loved most. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, humility, and quiet devotion to his family.
Chris retired from Cessna Aircraft Company after a distinguished career as an Experimental Lead in Advanced Design. His work helped shape the future of aviation, and he earned the respect of colleagues through his exceptional craftsmanship, ingenuity, and unwavering work ethic. To those who knew him, there wasn’t much he couldn’t build, repair, or figure out. He had a well-earned reputation as a true master of all trades. Whether solving a complex engineering problem or helping a friend or neighbor with a project, Chris was the person people called when they needed someone they could count on.
Outside of work, Chris found joy in the things he loved most. He was an accomplished barbecue pitmaster who delighted in bringing family and friends together around a meal. He also took tremendous pride in his lawn, especially his beloved zoysia grass. If there happened to be a better-looking yard nearby, he’d probably have had an opinion about it. Chris believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well, and he brought that philosophy to every project, every meal, and every aspect of his life.
Chris rarely expressed his love through grand speeches. He didn’t always say, “I love you,” but no one ever doubted how deeply he cared. He showed his love through his actions by fixing what was broken, offering advice, lending a helping hand, and quietly showing up whenever someone needed him. His generosity, dependability, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, Chris will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, family member, and friend. His life was defined by integrity, humility, kindness, and service to others. The example he set through his actions will continue to inspire those who loved him for generations to come.
In honor of Chris, his family invites those who knew him to raise a Bud Light, fire up the grill, lend a hand to a neighbor, or spend a little extra time with the people they love. Those simple acts reflected the way Chris lived: with generosity, laughter, quiet strength, and a heart that always put others first.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosie; a brother, Tom Sifferd; his children, Steve (Annmarie) of Milton, FL; Corey; and Amber; grandchildren, Mackenzie; Hayden; Alysia; Kensington; Connor; Chloe; Amelia; and a great grandchild, Auriella.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
