January 22, 1943 — December 29, 2023

David Adams

David Curtis Adams was born on January 22, 1943 to Virginia Adams in Wichita, KS.  He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1965, and from the University of Kansas Law School in 1968.  Upon graduation, he joined the firm of Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock and Kennedy in Wichita,  where he became a partner specializing in bankruptcy law.  He received national recognition for his work as a workout and insolvency professional when he was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.  In 1988, he became President of the Wichita Bar Association.  He was highly regarded by his fellow attorneys and mentored many throughout his career.

In 1996, he and June relocated to Lawrence, KS.  Dave began a second career as President for Emprise Bank. Dave represented Emprise Bank at the law firm for decades. His good friend Mike Michaelis hired him to run Lawrence Emprise Bank and two other surrounding area banks. Always a quick study, and good judge of character, Dave became an important part of the Lawrence community where he served on several boards. While at Emprise, Dave played an instrumental role in the merger of many chartered banks to one statewide bank, with a single Board of Directors.

Dave was a life-long fan of the Kansas Jayhawks. He loved fly fishing with his buddies. He made many trips and memories traveling to great destinations.

Dave retired from Emprise Bank in 2008. He and June remained in Lawrence until 2021, before returning to their roots in Wichita. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, June, and his step-daughters Debbie (Clark) Hudson, Janet (Kevin) Pistilli, Tami (Mike) Racine, his grandsons, JD Hudson, Tommy Hudson, and Luke Hudson and dog Scout.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to The Kansas Humane Society or JDRF, (The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
