David H. MacIntyre

David H. MacIntyre, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at 10:11 a.m. on December 29, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 83. Born on February 26, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts, David lived a life marked by a profound commitment to education, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and family.

As an accomplished Aviation Technical Writer, David shared his knowledge with clarity and precision throughout his career that included tenures at B&D Avionics and Cessna. In parallel to his career as a technical writer, his passion for teaching led him to teach night school at Wichita Area Technical College, where he educated and inspired future generations for 25 years. In addition to writing and teaching, he dedicated his time to tutoring and also painted some houses along the way. Until his elderly years, he was always working to provide and care for his family.

David graduated from high school in Chelsea, MA and attended Northeastern University in Boston where he completed extensive coursework in electrical engineering, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in English/Journalism from Kearney State College (now the University of Nebraska Kearney), where he served as the editor of the student newspaper, composed and studied poetry, and earned his teaching certification in 1969. David attempted to enlist in the military during the Vietnam War, however, was denied due to his handicap that was the result of being hit by a car at 55 mph at age four.

Throughout his college career, David was actively involved with the Navigators and boldly shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ to his peers and professors. He also enjoyed his adventures with the Navigators which included places like Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs; Maranatha Camp in Maxwell, Nebraska; and British Columbia, Canada.

His early teaching days took him to the ranching country and Sandhills of Tryon, Nebraska, where he taught for two years in a one-room country schoolhouse, before relocating to Wichita in 1973, where he served with his wife Linda for a couple of years as a Film Representative for the Billy Graham Worldwide Pictures, a role that reflected his commitment to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

While a young man in Boston, David accepted Christ as his savior while at a Billy Graham crusade and was touched by the discipleship of The Navigators and mentor, Tom Collins. He attended Boston's famous Park Street Church, and lived a short stint in the Navigator house. In Wichita, he became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and actively participated in worship service there and, until his later years, and faithfully participated in Sunday School. Passion for God’s Word inspired many around him, and he dedicated his life to sharing that joy with others. All people were interesting to David. He was delighted to meet most anyone, and so encouraging, taking authentic interest in them and with a knack for connecting interesting and unique details regarding them. He would frequently invite people to visit Immanuel Baptist Church, pass out tracts, when there was opportunity and in his older years, he always carried a pocket-size New Testament on him. He was also a long-time listener of BBN Christian Radio, faithfully promoting the station's ministry to others.

David was passionate about physics, mathematics, English literature and poetry, history, and classic journalism. He had great enthusiasm for aviation and steam engine trains, and history spanning the Revolutionary War through World War II; other favorite topics included Lewis and Clark, Mark Twain, Wyatt Earp, and Albert Einstein, James Clerk Maxwell, and Nikola Tesla. He was an avid reader, reading everything from John Grisham novels to James Michener's works. As a child he grew up on classic cartoons and Westerns, and as an adult continued to enjoy them, especially the long-running TV series Gunsmoke. He enjoyed bluegrass music and could hold his own at the banjo back in the day. He admired the beauty of nature and was very fond of New England, especially Rockport, MA and the Maine woods, where he spent many summers growing up. David was a very content man; always quick to forgive, and filled with the joy of the Lord. He would often find great pleasure just being in his own backyard, where he would enjoy reading and the occasional pipe. He liked watching and reading the news, especially human-interest segments. His greatest joy was in those he met throughout his life's journey and sharing his memories of them.

David cherished the memories of his childhood and upbringing, especially his summers with his beloved sister, Linda, on Squirrel Island, ME and later Rockport, MA, and the woods of Maine. During his summers in Rockport he caddied at the local golf course, including for the pro, the late Mike Brady, at times being amused by the sound of his dad's speedboat, "The Nike", buzzing down the nearby shoreline. David had great admiration for his parents and grandparents, and routinely kept their stories alive with his family and friends.

David met and married Linda I. Heaton in Kearney, Nebraska, in 1971. Their union brought forth two wonderful children, Jared and Jolynn. David cherished and delighted in his family deeply; he is survived by his wife, Linda MacIntyre; son, Jared MacIntyre; daughter, Jolynn Jarvis (John); and grandchildren, Holly, Ella, and Edwin. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Cosgrove; nephews, James Cosgrove and William Cosgrove; niece, Susan Standis; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hudson L. MacIntyre and Audrey L. (Hilton) MacIntyre, and his niece, Lorraine Ware (his sister Linda Cosgrove's daughter).

The Funeral Service will be held on January 9, 2026, 10:00 a.m. (CST), at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and remember David’s remarkable life. Share condolences at www.cozine.com. Services by Cozine Memorial Group-Broadway Mortuary.
