Delbert Hawkins

August 13, 1923 — April 30, 2018

Delbert Ray Hawkins, 94, born in Augusta, Kansas on August, 13, 1923, to parents Riley and Maude Hawkins. He is a graduate of Cedar Vale High School where he lettered in 3 sports and was a thespian. He served in a bomber squadron in Italy during WWII and returned home to marry his high school sweetheart Phillis Huddle. He is survived by his children Shelia Nelson (Albuquerque, NM), and Kevin (Wichita, Kansas) and a brother Daryl (Sarasota, FL.). In 1981 he married Betty McLaughlin and was a fine loving husband, father, step father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a volunteer with Kansas Red Cross and was a helper to anyone who needed it. He was active in church and had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus. Visitation 6-8:00pm, Thursday, Broadway Mortuary. Funeral service 10:30am, Friday, May 11, Crossroads Baptist Church. Graveside service 1:30 Friday, Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cedar Vale, KS.
