Donald Moore

Don and I met in 1953. My friend, Dianne, and I were riding my horse, Major, down Cheyenne Street and went past a couple of good-looking guys working on a car in the driveway of Marvin & Dorothy Masts’ house. They asked Marvin what our names were and asked us out on a date. Well, Dianne jumped in the seat with Glen and I was left with Don, who turned out to be the better man. Talk about luck!

After that, we dated for two and a half years, and decided it was the “real thing” and got married on October 25, 1956. At that time Don was working for Doc Galaway at his dry-cleaning establishment. Later he worked for all the aircraft companies. It was good pay, and soon I joined him working at Cessna, and then at Boeing. He also worked at Learjet and Beech, and at Swearangin in Texas, and another company in North Carolina.

In 1958, our son Danny was born, and Mike came later in 1961. We lived in several states, including Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri, but we always came back to Kansas. Through the years Danny married and gave us 5 grandkids, Larry, Donald, Dianna, Chris, and Scott. We were also blessed with ten great-grandchildren.

During all these years we owned 3… maybe 4 houses. After we got into aircraft work we stayed with them until we returned in 1998. We didn’t mind the layoffs; we could always travel somewhere and camp out and fish and enjoy campfires.

Another thing we enjoyed doing was going dancing with friends and playing board games and cards. We also enjoyed the get-togethers with family. Altogether, I’d say we had a lot of good times together. Everyone should have a life full of love like we did.
