In Loving Memory of
Donald Lewis Stock
October 14, 1965 - March 7, 2026
Donald "Don" Lewis Stock was born on October 14, 1965, in California, to Carolyn and Darrel Stock. As the son of a Marine, he grew up across the United States, moving wherever his father's service called the family. That upbringing shaped him to be adaptable, resilient, and unafraid of new challenges. He eventually planted roots in Wichita, Kansas, where he ran cross-country and track at South High School and graduated in 1983 with a love of speed and a work ethic that never quit.
It was in those same South High hallways that Don and Robin Meyer first crossed paths. Years later, a shared class at Wichita State University brought them together. They married on July 16, 1988, and built a life and family they were both proud of. Don is survived by his wife Robin, his son Bryant (Allison Stock), his daughter Bethany, his mother Carolyn and sister Cathy Loffland and family.
For years, Don also owned and operated The Shop in Old Town, on the corner of Washington and 2nd St, a place that reflected everything he stood for. He worked on anything and everything that came through his doors, because for Don, no problem was too difficult. What set him apart wasn't just his skill; it was his way of thinking. While others asked 'what' was broken, Don always asked 'why.' His true gift was his diagnostic ability, the rare talent to listen, reason, and trace a problem all the way back to its root.
Don went on to become a Certified Master Technician for Volkswagen, a title he earned and wore with pride. He later brought that expertise into the classroom as an automotive teacher at Wichita North High school, where he mentored countless students and instilled in them the same love for the craft he'd carried his whole life.
Working on his own car remained one of his greatest joys throughout his life. He was also a familiar and beloved presence at the Kansas International Dragway, where he was deeply involved in the junior dragster community, where he nurtured a love of speed in the next generation just as he had in the classroom. And in his later years, Don found a new community in Wichita's motorcycle world, riding and connecting with fellow enthusiasts who shared his passion for the open road.
Don lived by a simple rule he shared often: "Do what you love." He didn't just say it, he proved it every day, in the classroom, in the garage, and at home with his family. We will carry those words with us.
Rest easy, Don.
