Donna MacKay

Donna Carol MacKay, 81, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 30, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on January 8, 2026, at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67211. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 7, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service in the chapel at Broadway Mortuary.

Donna was born in Wichita, Kansas, on December 18, 1944. She was named after the Madonna statue featured in A Christmas Carol. She graduated from South High School in Wichita and began her working life at Joyland Amusement Park shortly after graduation. She later worked as a lunch aide and tutor at William Allen White Elementary School.

Donna had a deep love for children, animals, and volunteering. She also served as a Penny Power carrier for several years. Later in life, she began a career as a mail carrier at Boeing, where she worked for 12 years until her retirement.

In 1979, Donna lost her father and soon after met her future husband, Glenn MacKay, on a blind date. Glenn worked for Dold Meat Packing before beginning a 26-year career at Boeing. Donna and Glenn were married on January 29, 1983, and shared a loving marriage for 26 years until Glenn's passing at the age of 58.

Though they had no biological children, Donna and Glenn prayed for children and were blessed to open their hearts and lives to two young women they proudly called daughters: Jennifer "Jenny" Ennis and Glenda Smith. Donna's niece, Charlena MacKay, was also a cherished part of her life. Donna's gentle and kind spirit touched everyone who knew her.

In her later years, Donna resided at Regent Independent Living and Reflection Ridge Retirement Community, where she formed many meaningful friendships. She enjoyed mystery dinners, movies, church services, concerts, and spending time with family and friends.

Donna is survived by her children, Jenny and Matt Ennis and granddaughters Olivia and Eleanor of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Glenda and Andrew Smith and granddaughters Kaytee and Kylee of Wichita; her niece Charlena MacKay of Wichita; her great-niece Madyson of Wichita; and her sister-in-law, Mary MacKay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Louise Sink; her husband, Glenn Edwin MacKay; her brother-in-law, Charles Ray MacKay; and her great-nephew, John Luke.

Donna was a loving and compassionate person who made it her life's work to care for those who needed it most, whether people or animals. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
