Dr. Richard Schonberg

Dr. Richard Schonberg passed at his home on July 2, 2024, with his family by his side, just as he wanted. Private family services have been held. 

There was very little he put his mind to that didn't become reality. He was perhaps best known for being stubborn and cantankerous. But those close to him know he was also kind, fair, and generous. He was most generous with his stories, which he loved to share over a plate of BBQ brisket and a dry gin martini with anyone fortunate enough to hear them. He talked of his time after the war serving in the Army Band, of his many travels to far corners of the world with his wife Dolores, and of the big band music he so adored. 

He moved to Wichita in 1950 from Cleveland, Ohio after attending Ohio State University and the Cleveland School of Podiatry to begin a podiatry practice lasting for decades. He loved a round of golf at Willowbend, tending to his roses, and entertaining his close-knit group of friends and family each and every week in his family room. 

Dr. Schonberg is survived by his 3 children Jeff Schonberg, Kathi Stark, and Vicki Zuber, and their families.
