Edward Doherty

Doherty, Edward, 79, retired truck driver, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Visitation with family present 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 12, Broadway Mortuary. Graveside Service 10 a.m., Monday, December 13, Clearwater Cemetery. Ed worked for the Red Cross and Coleman, each for over 20 years as a bus/truck driver. In all that time on the road, Ed never met a stranger he couldn't strike up a conversation with over coffee. In retirement, he enjoyed his time at the local diners. Preceded in death by infant twin daughters, parents and wife Carol. Ed is survived by one sister and his children. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the Wichita Public Library Foundation, 223 S. Main, Wichita, KS 67202. This endowment was established when Ed lost his wife, to fund audio books which allowed Carol to continue her love of reading after she lost her sight. Ed also loved all of the dogs and cats the family has had over the years as well and his four-legged grandchildren. A memorial has also been established with the Kansas Humane Society.
