Edward John Giordana, 93, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 12, 2025. A proud veteran, loving husband, and devoted family man, Edward lived a full and honorable life defined by service, family, and faith.
Edward was born on November 27, 1931, in Iron River, Michigan, to Lawrence and Angeline (Tessaro) Giordana.
He served his country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force, including during the Korean and Vietnam wars, ultimately achieving the rank of SMSgt serving in the Air Force Security Police Squadron. Edward earned numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal. After 29 years of service in the Air Force, Edward retired from the military and moved back to Wichita, where he continued his career with Cessna Aircraft and retired with the rank of Security Captain.
He enjoyed membership at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and was an active participant in organizations such as the Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the Air Force Security Forces Association.
Edward found joy in simple pleasures—he loved bowling, mowing his lawn, watching and playing sports, refereeing and umpiring. He also had a lifelong appreciation for horses which he shared with his family, including grandchildren. During his time stationed in the Philippines, he was asked to revitalize the Clark Riding Academy. Over the course of several years, he transformed it into an incredible facility enjoyed by many. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Pat) Giordana, and his children: Wendy (Rick) Sahatjian, Anthony Winfield Sanford, and Gayle Alan (Angela) Sanford, all of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by his siblings: Lawrence (Margaret) Giordana of California, Rosemary (Dick) DeRidder and Betty Gingrass of Michigan, and Florence Gryzb of Wisconsin. Edward leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought much joy to his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Angeline Giordana.
