McAllister, Ellen Maxine, 84, born August 2, 1935 in Prescott, KS to Virgil and Lillie Webb, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020. Maxine retired from Bank IV in Wichita and spent many years caring for children in the nurseries both at Bethany United Methodist Church and West Heights United Methodist Church. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald Dean McAllister. She is survived by her children, Karen and husband Randy Herrman, Kay and husband Harvey Jones and Kevin and wife, Janette McAllister, brother Kenneth (Dee) Webb; sisters Dorothy Haines and Beverly (Robert) Neale; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Memorials to Bethany United Methodist Church and West Heights United Methodist Church.

She was a woman with a gentle beauty and strength in her wings as she soared through life. Always one of undoubtable embrace, she never faltered in her journey when it came to those most precious to her. She nurtured love, and cherished burden, as she tended to those who reached for her hand, no matter the child, no matter the age, no matter the relation, year after year.
She was a woman who served her life for the sake of others—fulfilling a role not required, but beloved as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

As she spent countless hours caring for her children and her children’s children, carrying them, sweeping them along with her so that they might get that much higher in their own journeys, so that they might one day soar beautifully on their own, without her.

Even now as her journey has fluttered to its end, those she lifted high remain strong, those she cherished warmly remain loving. Though her wings may tire, she may never fall; instead, soaring higher and more beautifully than ever before with those wings gifted to her by God’s grace alone. So we shall fly with what she has given to us— with what she has left for us until the day we too tire. Reunited once again with yet another set of wings.
