Eugene (Gene) Schulte

Eugene (Gene) Thomas Schulte, 75, loving husband, father, and “Papa,” went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He is survived by, the love of his life, his wife Lois (Jean) Schulte who he was married to for 55 years, son Matt Schulte (Carmen), daughter Tara Giebler (Andrew), and son Greg Schulte (Allison); his beloved grandchildren, Zach Schulte, Sarah Giebler, Becca Schulte, Thomas Giebler, Beth Schulte, Michael Giebler, Emily Schulte, Rachel Giebler, Malea Schulte, and Lauren Giebler; and his great-granddaughter Rin Elizabeth; siblings David Schulte, Joyce Brown, Larry Schulte(Donna), Debbie Hollar(Mike), Joan Welch, Sandy Johnson, and Theresa Grover as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his parents Martin Schulte and Dorothy (Wolke) Schulte, and brother Robert (Bob) Schulte. Gene joined the Wichita Fire Department in July of 1968. As Captain of training, he instructed the new recruits and was proud to of taught his son Matt’s class. He retired in June of 1994 after 26 years of dedicated service to the community. He was an avid golfer and so proud to be a member of the “Hole-in-One” club! He enjoyed playing golf with his family and his ole’ golf buddies, Carl, Jim, and Charlie.

A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, immediately followed by a visitation with family from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, both at the Cozine Life Events Center, 11500 E. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67206. A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 18, also at the Cozine Life Events Center.
