Eva Jo Luck (Jo), age 90, of Wichita, KS. passed away January 6, 2023. She is predeceased by her loving husband, William J. Luck (Bill), her parents Everett and Winnie Walker of Hill City, KS. Eva Jo was born in Calhoun, Ok on March 5, 1932, during the Depression. She is an only child. The family moved to find work to Oregon, California, Arizona and finally to western Kansas. Jo graduated from Hill City High School. Eva Jo later married the love of her life, Bill Luck, also of Hill City. KS. The oil field took the family to Great Bend, Hill City, El Dorado, Columbus, OH., Edmond, OK. and Lyons, KS. They raised one daughter, Jeanne Riedel Shoemaker (husband Rex, deceased), Steve, deceased (wife Joette), Canyon, TX., Ric (wife Debbie), of Houston, Jim (wife Rhonda) of Topeka. Eva Jo was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, was an excellent bridge player and bowler. While in El Dorado she was a bookkeeper for Graves Drug Stores, a homemaker, den mother, and member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Eva Jo saw to it that all her children had the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, insisted they learn to swim, and nurtured a love of reading. She strongly encouraged her children and later her grandchildren to obtain a college education. All earned at least one college degree. Besides her children, her biggest source of pride and joy were her four grandchildren: Ricelle Luck (Richard) of Geelong, Australia, Garrett Luck of Houston, TX, and Whitney Luck of St. Petersburg, FL., Taylor Jo Luck (Jim) of Topeka, KS. We will follow Mom’s wishes and have a brief Graveside Service at Walnut Valley Cemetery, 725 Boyer Road, in El Dorado, KS. on Friday, January 13 th at 2:30 p.m, followed by a gathering at the Shoemaker Farm (6100 E. 69 th St. N, Valley Center, KS). Friends and Family are invited to either or both. The family requests no flowers. Memorials have been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
