Frances Jean Rump

Frances J. Rump, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was born on November 15, 1936, in Hutchinson, KS at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the daughter of Walter John and Ottie (Spain) Burdick. She graduated from Buhler High School in 1954. On September 2, 1955, she married Leon J. Rump in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2013. Frances worked as a seamstress and worked with her husband on the farm. She began a career at JoAnn Fabrics in 1984, and stayed there until 2003. After retirement, she became an avid quilter. Frances was a member of Andover Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her four children, Judy Desmarteau (Marty) of Wichita, Brent Rump of Hutchinson, and Kelly Denman and Kristi Rump of Wichita; sisters-in-law, Carol Anderson and Yvonne Roe (Jim); grandchildren, Alan and Brock Rump, Caitlyn (J.P.) Duque, Chance and Jesse Denman, Jada (Dennon) Shields, and Beau and Michelle Desmarteau; and great-grandchildren, Wrigley and Amias Duque. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Burdick; sister-in-law, Ardene Swenson; and grandson, Jason Heath Rump. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 16, at Andover Lutheran Church, 115 Dakota Rd., in Windom, KS. Burial will follow at Andover Cemetery, also in Windom, KS. Share condolences at www.cozine.com. Arrangements by Cozine Memorial Group-Cozine Life Events Center.
