Gary D. Landon

Gary D. Landon was born on December 1, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, and passed away March 2, 2025, from complications and decline from a fall that he sustained in December 2024. He grew up in the Wichita area and married Janet Harrison in October 1959. Shortly after their marriage, Gary was drafted into the US Army and stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Gary & Janet spent 2 years in Alabama during his service in the army. Before his honorable discharge, they welcomed their first child, Tambra.

Upon returning to Wichita, Gary began working for Beech Aircraft as a tool planner. During this time, they had their son, Scott. Gary later moved to Globe Engineering, where he spent most of his career and eventually became president of the company before retiring in January 2000. Gary’s ultimate hobby was his passion for maintaining his lawn and landscaping. In retirement, he and Janet enjoyed traveling, spending time at their lake home, caring for their elderly mothers, and most of all, spending time with their grandchildren (Parker, Conner, and Jillian Johnson). After 53 years of marriage, Janet passed away from ovarian cancer in April 2012.

In December 2013, Gary married Nancy Harned, and they remained married until his death. Gary and Nancy also enjoyed traveling until his health issues prevented it. Gary found immense joy in the great outdoors, where the beauty of nature inspired his spirit. He delighted in cooking and cherishing meals with family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Everett Landon; mother, Ada Yeary; and wife, Janet. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; brothers, Ted (Rosa) Landon, Dennis (Gloria) Landon, sister, Janice McAdoo, daughter, Tambra (Steve) Johnson of Wichita, KS; son, Scott Landon (Robb Fluke) of Plano, TX; grandchildren Parker (Taylor) Johnson of Rockwall, TX; Conner (Mindi) Johnson of Wichita, KS; and Jillian (Taylor) Wilson of Arlington, VA; & great grandchildren Raleigh McMillian, Malachi McMillian, Piper Johnson, Ridge Johnson & Brooks Johnson.
