Gordon Gwinn was born July 7, 1931 in Wichita Kansas. He had 3 half siblings, Eddie Jarvis Gwinn, Desmond Gwinn and Norman Bechtal. He graduated Wichita High School at age 18 and joined the Navy. He spent a year at Electronic Technician School in San Diego. He then served on the U.S.S. Askari off the coast of Japan during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1955 where he then went to work for the Bell Telephone company as a frame man. He enrolled at Wichita University in 1953 and Graduated with a BA. Gordon trained at the Wichita Police Recruit Academy and joined the force in 1955. He served as a patrol officer, motorcycle officer and later promoted to traffic investigator. He was accepted by the FBI in 1963. He was sent to Birmingham, Alabama working civil rights cases and photographing voter registrations. He was transferred to Philadelphia in 1963, Washington D.C. and later Indianapolis where he retired. He was Hired by Boeing Aircraft as Chief Security Investigator so they returned to Wichita. Upon retiring from Boeing he became a U.S. Marshall at the courthouse. He was a member of the Kansas Peace officers Association, lifetime member of the NRA and American legion.
Gordon married Wanita in 1955. They proceed to bare 5 children, Teresa Renee, Stephanie Jane, Angela Sue, Jennifer Marie, and Amy Beth. They had 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was a very loving husband and an awesome father. He will forever be in our hearts.
