Helen Drennen

November 18, 1929 — June 14, 2015

Drennen, Helen Louise (Carr), 85, child of God, died at home June 14, 2015. Born to Alfred R. and Lucile D. Carr in 1929, she was married to Harold O. Drennen for 64 years and privileged to be the mother of 6 children. A high school Valedictorian and Salutatorian of her Wesley Medical Hospital School of Nursing class, Helen enjoyed her nursing positions at Sedgwick County Hospital, Wesley Medical Center, the Institute of Logopedics (Heartspring), Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, and 11 years as a USD 259 school nurse, where she was honored as a Good Apple. In retirement, Helen, along with 3 other parishioners, organized and led the Stephen Ministry program at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Helen is survived by her husband, Harold; sister, Martha Sue Crabbs; children, Kay Drennen-Larsen (David), Cyd Law (Greg), Keith Drennen (Janet), Michelle Zeng (Hongbiao), Curt Drennen (Lin), Tri Pham; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with the Gloria Dei Stephen Ministry program, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA, and the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center. Family Visitation, 2-4 pm, Saturday, June 20, at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway. Memorial Services, 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1101 N.
