Henry Lee Allen, a devoted family man, retired program scheduler, and valued community member, passed away peacefully at his home in Wichita, Kansas on March 14, 2026. Born on June 4, 1935, in Wichita, Henry’s life was marked by dedicated service, both in his career and in his community.
Henry was a proud graduate of Wichita North High School, class of 1953. Pursuing higher education, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology with a minor in Accounting from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. His academic achievements laid a strong foundation for a career marked by commitment and precision.
He honorably served his country as a Communication Specialist, achieving the rank of E4 in the United States Army during the Korean War. His military service was a testament to his dedication and discipline.
Professionally, Henry devoted 36 years as a program scheduler and program director with Boeing Aircraft Company. Following this distinguished career, he continued his dedication to serving others as a Funeral Assistant at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas. His work reflected his kindness and good nature, qualities deeply appreciated by colleagues and clients alike.
Henry’s kindness extended beyond his professional life; he was known for his warm personality and sense of humor that brought comfort and joy to those around him. His faith played a central role throughout his life. He served with pride as an elder and board member of Broadway Christian Church and Martinson Avenue Christian Church. In his later years, he found spiritual home and fellowship attending New Hope Christian Church in Wichita.
An avid traveler, Henry found great joy exploring new places, with Colorado holding a special place in his heart. He was also a devoted sports enthusiast, supporting the Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, Kansas City Chiefs, and Wichita State University basketball teams. These interests brought him joy and enriched his life in many ways.
Henry is lovingly remembered by his cherished wife of 69 years, Kay S. Allen; their daughters Pamela K. Hacker and her husband Thomas, Lora M. Allen, and Susan J. Hinrichs and her husband Alan. He was a proud grandfather to Michelle S. Hinrichs, Lisa M. Hinrichs, and Austin L.A. Torres. Henry also leaves behind his sister, Barbara M. Macy, and a host of nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley R. and Mildred M. Allen; his brother Martin L. Allen Sr.; and his nephew Martin “Marty” Allen. Their memories remain treasured within the family.
Henry Lee Allen’s life was one of steadfast service, devotion to family, and genuine kindness. He touched many lives through his professional work, community involvement, and personal warmth. His legacy stands as a testament to a man who lived with integrity and humor, and who cherished those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
