James Joseph McCoy

Jimmy, a real McCoy and a force of nature, lived life wide open and on his own terms. He was a biker through and through, happiest on his Harley, shooting pool and surrounded by family and friends. Sarcasm was his love language and strength was his presence. It wasn’t any one thing he said or did, it was just who he was. He valued honesty, loyalty, and never needed anyone’s approval. He was his own man and forged his own path. The world’s a little quieter without him in it, but his spirit — strong, fearless, and unfiltered — will always ride on.

As one who rode hard and loved deeply, Jimmy will be remembered not just for the miles he logged but for the way he made others feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Jimmy leaves behind enough Harley T-shirts to outfit a small town, a pile of half-finished projects he swore he’d “get to next weekend,” and more memories and laughter than anyone could count.

Above all, Jimmy was proud to be a dad to his 2 daughters, Jennifer Thompson and Jessica (Nick) McGuire who were his greatest joy. A grandfather to six grandchildren; Ariel and Bishop Feather; Bri, Hadleigh, Sylvie and Nicholas McGuire. Preceded in death by his mother Iva Joyce Hibbs, father Robert Eugene McCoy, and his sister Linda (Danny) Potter. Survivors include: Sister Donna Snapp, Brother Robb (Debbie) McCoy, many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, family, and friends. Though he’s gone ahead, his memory will ride with us always.

A memorial service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be shared with friends and loved ones at the American Legion Post 256, 4590 W. Vanderhoff Circle, Wichita, Kansas on Saturday November 8th, 2025 at 1:00pm. Share condolences at www.cozine.com. Arrangements by Cozine Memorial Group-Broadway Mortuary.
