Jane Silver

August 2, 1941 — February 10, 2021

Silver, Jane Audrey Anderson (Mimi) 79, was suddenly called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, February 10, 2021.

Her life was defined by her faith, her family and her country. She graciously served others, volunteering in many ministries, organizations and committees. Mimi loved animals, her Scandinavian heritage, snowy days, mountain vistas, a good biography and puzzles galore.

Her last day was spent doing her favorite things, enjoying time by the fire on a snowy day with her great grands, granddaughter, and daughters. The only thing better would have been to have had her son, Sam and all her adoring grandchildren together that day.

She enjoyed pursuing educational endeavors from trips abroad to devouring historical biographies, playing the piano, the Arts, and priding herself on knowing every trivia question one could throw her way. Always looking forward to planning family game nights.

Mimi committed herself to joyfully serving her church through her involvement in senior ministries, many prayer and Bible study groups and various other committees. Known then and remembered now as a true prayer warrior. She formed deep bonds with close friends through her investment club, Birthday Babes, book club, PEO, Scandinavian Society and as a board member and one time President of the Birger Sandzen Memorial Art Gallery in Lindsborg, KS.

So many of her friends and family have described her as being full of grace, sweet, kind, loving, caring, thoughtful, humble, a beautiful soul, always a comforting smile, never spoke an unkind word, beautiful inside and out, a huge heart, lovely lady, a true class act, always spreading the love of Jesus, a Saint.

Born on August 2, 1941 in Clay Center, KS to Axel (Elmer) and Alice Lee (Slee) Anderson. She married the love of her life, Michael J. Silver. Jane began her 35 year teaching career in Leonardville, KS after graduating from Kansas State University where she was a member of the Tri Delta Theta soroity. Following Mike’s graduation from K-State, he pursued a law degree from Washburn University. They began to create a life in Wichita, Jane earning a Masters of Education, spending most of her career as a Reading Specialist, McGraw-Hill textbook representative and later university educator. They enjoyed many adventures traveling, raising their three children, and enjoying farm life in their later years.

We adored and treasured time with our precious Saint Jane, blessed to have known such a fine mother, grandmother and friend. Well done, good and faithful servant.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mike Silver and her parents, Elmer and Alice Lee Anderson. Survivors include her son, Sam (Lori) Silver of Southlake, TX; daughters Lynne Silver and Lisa (Jeff) Cohlmia both of Wichita, KS. Sisters, Lynne (Dave) Knowlton of Longmont, CO and Chris Anderson of Clay Center, KS; grandchildren Scott Silver, Sammy Silver, Chelsea (T.J.) Hallice, Ali (Dylan) Driver; great-grandchildren Nora, Tripp, George and Winnie; nieces Mindy (Barry) Ruffalo, Andy Anderson and nephew Bryce Knowlton. She also leaves behind extended family here and abroad that she deeply loved.

Our family wishes to express our deep gratitude for the overwhelming love and support during this difficult time.
