Jean Ann Cusick, 84, went to her heavenly home on March 27, 2024. She loved life and was so much bigger than life in every way! She was a proud member of the East High Class of ’57, where she maintained many lifelong relationships and loved telling stories of all the good times they had together. She was also incredibly devoted to her “Vault Sisters,” “Wild Women,” and Bible study groups. They shared much of life and many amazing adventures that meant the world to her.
Her love for theatre spanned her entire life and was displayed in her flamboyant and charismatic personality. Jean Ann acted in and directed more shows than can be counted at just about every theatre in Wichita. Her theatre legacy is impressive and immeasurable. She had an intense passion for movies, and her presence at the theatres and her movie reviews will be missed by all. A lifelong Wichitan, she loved the city and would insert herself wherever she could to try and make it a better place for everyone. She was never afraid to champion causes she believed in and tell people how things ought to be done.
Jean Ann was deeply and fiercely proud of her family, from her parents to her brothers and sisters, her children, grandchildren, and her family down through many generations. She found great joy in teaching and loved children. She cherished every moment spent with her great nieces and nephews, sharing her love of Disney, sports, movies, and many other interests. She was immensely grateful for her nieces and nephews for the time they spent with her, helping with day-to-day life, hanging out, and, most importantly, growing with her in her relationship with Jesus. We are all thankful that her relationship with Christ makes her death not the final act in her amazing life, but rather a curtain call where she gets to take a bow with her Lord and Savior and live life eternally.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Annie Stevens; sister, JoAnn Millsap; husband, Ken Cusick. She is survived by her children, Laurie (Mark) Newton, Nick (Kim) Cusick, and Trey (Laura) Cusick; siblings, Johnny Stevens, Jane (Don) Luellen, and Jack (Alice) Stevens; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.
Whether it was Jean Ann, Grandma, Aunt, Friend, Drama Mama, Weener, Weens, Sister, or Mom C—however you knew and loved her, be thankful for the good times, amazing adventures, and great memories. We hope you smile when you remember who she was to you.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 4 at Countryside Christian Church.
