Jeanne Gordon

January 29, 1956 — December 29, 2016

Gordon, Jeanne Anne, 60, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2016. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd; the funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4th, both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Jeanne was born January 29, 1956 in Wichita. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mattie Harter, Russ and Lois Gordon, and her daughter, Gabriele Anne. Jeanne is survived by a large family including her husband, Russ, her children, Roarke (Molly), Genevieve Farha (Chris), Audrey, Lucy and Graham Sebastian, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Rory, Isley, Ignatius, Graham Gabriele, and Etta. Precious Jeanne, as her mother referred to her, accomplished much in life and excelled at all. She was a famed painter and illustrator, member of the lay-Carmelite order, motivational speaker, writer, world traveler, tree-climber, school-supply lady, master gardener, modern-day saint, collector and hoarder of religious art and artifacts, home-video producer, golfer, cyclist, flautist, honorary-member of sororities and fraternities, neighborhood flora and fauna thief, Eucharistic minister, bird-watcher, socialite, philanthropist, and now, angel. Her true passion was being a mother and grandmother, at which she was simply the best. Most notably, Jeanne single-handedly created more family traditions than anyone in the history of mankind. With her six kids and all of their friends in tow, Jeanne was always up for a game of kickball, an impromptu crafting party, or canning bushels of fresh produce from her garden. Ten years ago, Jeanne was in an accident resulting in her becoming a quadriplegic. Although her limbs did not move as she wanted, her wheelchair became an extension of her body, and once again she danced, took grandchildren for rides around her yard, and partied with the community that greatly supported her. She found a talent in mouth-stick art and painted hundreds of canvases, many of which she donated for charity auctions. Jeanne was a recipient of many accolades including her favorites, Hatteberg’s People and the Peter John Lioux Award. Her faith carried her until the end, and many have been inspired by her strength and spirituality. Jeanne will be eternally mourned, loved and most of all, celebrated.
