Jeanne Hannon

January 23, 1928 — May 14, 2015

Hannon, Jeanne L., 87, went home to our Lord May 14 th . Jeanne passed away from aspiration pneumonia and was on hospice care for 6 months . Jeanne was born in Ellsworth and moved to Wichita in 1948 where she met her husband, Bill, of 65 years. They were married January 29, 1950 in their newly built home at 1838 Ida. She was a homemaker and piano teacher while her children were young, then worked as a realtor and later owned The Picket Fence Gift Shop. She and her husband enjoyed their retirement spending summers in South Fork, Colorado square dancing, hunting, fly fishing, card playing, and traveling. Jeanne was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star. Preceeded in death by parents: Milton and Helen Sommers; Clair Sommers, brother; and Miriam Robinson, sister. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she is survived by husband, William, retired WPD captain; and children, Cheri Jackson, Michael Hannon and spouse Randy Carter, Kris Merten and spouse Richard: grandchildren, Derrick Jackson and spouse Missy, Ashley Merten Beck and spouse Clif, Donovan Hannon and spouse Michelle, Chad Merten and spouse Natalie, and Ryan Hannon and spouse Sherry; and 15 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Christoper, Kayla, Vanessa, Lyrissa, Trae, Clae, Gabrielle, Justice, Caitlyn, Brendan, Emma, Connor, Annabelle, and Elliott . She is also survived by Floyd and Ileen Hannon, brother and sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 8007 W Maple, Wednesday, May 20 th 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westwood or Harry Hynes Hospice.
