Jody R. Berens, 51, passed away peacefully in her home on December 9th, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. In 2008, Jody was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought hard and was able to put it into remission for many years. Recently, in 2017, the cancer had spread throughout her body and made its way to her intestines. Although Jody was fighter, this battle was one she knew she could not win. Instead, she placed her faith in Jehovah and chose to live out her time with her two daughters and granddaughter. Throughout her life Jody enjoyed running, hiking and exploring. She was a well known cosmetologist within her family. Many that knew Jody would say she was a lifelong caretaker. She tackled many jobs such as a hotel maintenance engineer, groundskeeper and housekeeper but 17 years of her life were dedicated to helping children in Pre-K for the USD 259 school district. No matter what she was doing, she had a passion for people and was open to learning new things.
She will be greatly missed. Survivors include daughters Justine and Shelby Ratcliffe; Granddaughter Nevaeh Fields; Parents Larena and Manire Berens; Brothers Michael and Marshall Berens; Sisters Rhonda Weir, Stacey Zubia, Janel Spohn, Shayla Reichmeier and Stephanie Berens; Longtime friends Junie, Kaylee and Noah DelaCruz. Memorial Service to be held Saturday, December 16th, at 11am at the Linwood Kingdom Hall (1649 Fortuna St. Wichita, KS 67216) Reception to follow. Share condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com. Arrangements by Broadway Mortuary.
