Jose "Joe" Garcia

Jose J “Joe” Garcia, 80, of Wichita, KS worked the majority of his career in aircraft and retired from Boeing as a Project Engineer in 2003. He then worked as a Building Facilitator for Glenville Baptist Church where he developed many great friendships.

He was born in Garden City, KS on June 1st, 1944 to Jesus and Rosalinda Garcia.

Preceded in death by father Jesus Garcia, mother Rosalinda Garcia, brothers Pat, Ben, and Ruben Garcia, sisters Teresa and Laura Garcia.

He is survived by, Brother, Gilbert Garcia from Georgia; sister, Olga Garcia Swan from Texas; daughters Gerrie (Jeff) Climer, and Debbie (Kent) Boal; grandchildren, Bryan (Denise) Climer, Erica (Adam) Patterson, Kyle (Tayler) Boal. Great Grandchildren Kaylee, Hadley, Parker, and Blakely.

Because of Joe’s extreme patriotism, he was proud to serve as a civilian contractor in Vietnam in 1969 and 1971.

In his younger days he achieved the rank of black belt in Taekwondo and spent several years as a competitor and instructor. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Joe’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and he looked forward to his weekly lunch outings with the church crew. He had great respect for his pastor and best buddy Bruce. Joe spoke of Bruce often and enjoyed their talks and time spent together.

Dad was meticulous, kindhearted, and generous with a good sense of humor. God and family were his priority and he wished to bring all people to Christ. Dad, we love you dearly and there will be a great VOID without you…until we meet again. Sleep with the angels.
