June McGovern

June Ann McGovern, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025. June was a loved educator all of her life, whether it was teaching kids at school or leading bible study at church. As a student herself, June graduated from Coffeyville High School in 1952. She received an associate's degree from Coffeyville Junior College in 1954. In 1976 June graduated from Wichita State University with her Bachelor's in Education and earned Magna Cum Laude honors. Finally, in 1980 she received her Masters degree from Wichita State where she finished on the President's Honor Roll. Despite being an accomplished student and educator, June would say her greatest accomplishment was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and would do anything for them.

Memorial service celebrating June's life will be at 10:30am, Saturday, May 10, at Central Christian Church. June is preceded in death by her husband, L.W. Chuck McGovern; parents, Melvin and Verna Sands; brothers, Tom and Jim Sands; and grandson, Derek McGovern. She is survived by her three sons, Patrick, Michael, and Casey McGovern; grandchildren, Tristen, Drake, and Lauren; and great-grandchildren, Ty, Chesnee, Erica, Maverick, Kohlten, and Brooklyn.
