Karen Irene Kirk, 71, of Wichita Ks died Saturday December 11th at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Karen was born going over railroad tracks headed to the hospital in Hays, KS July 15, 1950 to Gladys Horn and Claude Keith of Hill City, Kansas who proceeded her in death. Also proceeding her in death are sisters Carol Sue Keith and Bessie Lu Keith.
Karen is survived by Husband of 50 years Jerry D Kirk, two daughters, Bethany (Joshua) Corral of Wichita, KS and Darcy (KC) Holsey of Altus, OK, 7 grandchildren Clay, Josh, Abigail, Jolie, Ava, Elisabeth, and Kayla. She is also survived by siblings Claudia Nelson of Columbia, Mo, Kristina Fisher of Pratt, KS, John Horn of Kansas City, KS, Jodi Slief of Pratt, KS, sister-in-law, Kathryn Kirk, and, many cousins, double cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, February 19, at Central Community Church in the chapel on the west side of the building located at 6100 W Maple St. Wichita KS 67209.
Karen was very involved with Prairie Quilt Guild, and served on the board numerous times and was involved in the quilt show at Century II. She was an avid quilter and was a long-time member of the "Material Girls" small group. Karen loved riding passenger on Jerry’s motorcycle, even riding to Washington D.C. they were part of the Gold Wing motorcycle group Wingers for fun. Karen retired from the Sedgwick County Appraiser’s office in 2016, after 30 years of service.
Karen was the backbone of her family encouraging family gatherings. She was a supporter of anything that Jerry, Bethany or Darcy was involved in, and along with Jerry was a great supporter and mentor to many within our wonderful family.
