Kathleen Wingert

Kathleen Ann (Barton) Wingert, age 87, went to be with her Lord on June 26, 2023. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1:00pm, at Ridgepoint Church in Wichita. Casual attire is encouraged and K-State attire would bring a smile to her face. Kathy was born to Ross and Maude Esther Barton in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 26, 1935. She graduated from Wichita East High, then went on to Kansas State University. Kathy was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from K-State in December of 1956. During her time at K-State she went on a blind date and met the love of her life, Fred Wingert. Kathy and Fred were married on December 23, 1956. They raised their four children in Wichita. Kathy enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children, being a member of P.E.O., and helping Fred at their veterinary clinic. She and Fred shared over 66 years of marriage and they enjoyed golfing, church activities, their friends, volunteering, traveling, and supporting K-State. Kathy was a devout follower of Jesus and lived her life with a servant's heart.

Survivors include: husband, Fred Wingert; daughter, Teri Wingert of Mason, Ohio; son, Bart (Sue) Wingert of Wichita; daughter, Daphne (Randy) Adair of Wylie, Texas; daughter, Wende (Jeff) Doyle of Wichita; 7 grandchildren, Allie Wingert, Tyler Adair, Emma Wingert (Kevin East), Morgan (Jared) Rains, Hanna (Corbin) Wertz, Casey Doyle, and Sydnee Doyle; as well as her sister, Phyllis McNeil of Wichita. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Kathy’s memory to the Kansas Humane Society and Wichita Presbyterian Manor.
