Katie Coverdale

Kathleen (“Katie”) Renee Coverdale 33, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

The funeral service will be October 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 2209 East Pawnee, Wichita, Kansas 67211.

Katie was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend. Although her life was far too short, she lived more in her 33 years than many people manage to live in a lifetime. Her life cannot be measured simply by its length. Katie faced cancer with tremendous courage, but it did not define who she was. She was so much more. She loved deeply, laughed hard, made memories, built a family, and gave the people around her a lifetime of love in the years she was given.

Above all else, Katie was a mother. Her five children were the center of her world and her greatest source of love and pride. She loved them fiercely and devoted herself to them, giving them a foundation of love that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. She was also a devoted wife to her husband, Travis. Together, they built a family and shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Katie is survived by her husband, Travis; her five children, Jordan, Payton, Trevor, Trenton, and Paisley; her mother, Shawn Garner; her father Walter Franklin Garner, Jr.; her siblings Jessica (Josh) Skladzien, Walter Garner III, Rusty (Brittany) Garner, Josh (Courtney) Garner; her grandmother, Gay Lynn Ryland; her mother-in-law Lesa Coverdale; her sister-in-law Tracie (Matt) Helmers; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless friends and loved ones who will miss her deeply.

Katie was preceded in death by her brother Nick Garner; grandparents (Mary and Walt Garner, Sr., Don Ryland, James Durham); and her father-in-law Mike Coverdale.

Katie will forever be a part of the people whose lives she touched.
