Kay K Wallace, author and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026.
Kay was born on November 20, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas. Along with her parents, Dwight and Jodie, and her two older brothers, Wayne and Dwight, she enjoyed spending time at their family ranch near Leon, Kansas.
After graduating from East High School in Wichita, she attended the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from KU, Kay continued her education by also earning from KU a Master of Business Administration in 1974.
As president of Operations Improvement, Inc., Kay successfully implemented programs at many prominent firms, including Hershey Foods, Ralston Purina Company, The Centerre in St. Louis and Washington University.
Kay’s book, You’re the Boss, was published in 1982. An insider’s view of the working world, You’re the Boss, powerful in it’s honesty, is a real-world book addressing the personal concerns of individuals in the workforce.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents Dwight S Wallace and Jodie Wallace, and by her brother Dwight D Wallace (Linda). Kay is survived by her brother Wayne W Wallace (Nancy); nieces: Stacy Bastian, Shannon Savage (Dustin); nephews: Troy Wallace (Anne), Drew Wallace (Sara), Matthew Wallace (Angie), and Ben Wallace, Tyler Rowe (Emily) and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
A private service has been held.
Memorials have been established with Mental Health America of South Central Kansas, 555 N. Woodlawn, Suite 3105, Wichita, Kansas 67208, and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1550 N. Chapel Hill St., Wichita, Kansas 67206.
Her memory will always be a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
