Ken Griggs completed his long earthly good-bye on June 20, 2025 surrounded by love. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 1:00 pm, Monday, June 30, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS, 67206.
Kenneth Dean Griggs was born in St. Joseph Missouri, the only child of Mary and Dean Griggs. He attended public schools in St. Joseph and upon graduating headed 40 miles north to Northwest Missouri State where he graduated with a degree in business and finance. It was in a marketing class at NWMSU that Ken met Marilyn who was to become his lifelong spouse.
Upon graduation, Ken joined Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (now KPMG) in the Kansas City office as a staff accountant, passed his CPA exam and remained with the firm for 33 years, retiring as a partner in Wichita, Kansas. Ken made lifelong friends throughout his education and work associations. His quick sense of humor, ethics and ability to mentor continued throughout his life. He fell in love with the game of golf during his early years at KPMG and thrived on the competitiveness, humorous banter and friendships. He enjoyed the challenge and beauty of playing new golf courses and recorded playing over 250 different courses.
Ken took great pride in the accomplishments and career choices of his children, Stephanie and Chris. What joy the grandchildren brought him as he had the time after they were born to travel to visit them and enjoy them when they visited. Ken is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 57 years, daughter Stephanie Griggs; son Chris Griggs and wife Erin; grandsons, Carter Griggs and Ryan Griggs; in-laws Patricia and Victor Legendre, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Survivors will cherish the memories of Ken as a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather (Boppa Ken) brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and mentor.
Many thanks to all who loved on and helped care for Ken and our family during Ken’s long journey with Alzheimers. For friends desiring to honor Ken, the family suggests donations to: Northwest Foundation, Inc., Kenneth D. Griggs Accounting Scholarship, 800 University Drive, Maryville, MO 64468, or Charity of Your Choice. Share condolences at www.cozine.com. Services by Cozine Memorial Group-Cozine Life Events Center.
