Kim Taylor Epley was born in Abilene, Kansas and raised in Wichita, Arizona, and Michigan. She loved spending summer vacations with her grandparents in central Kanas. Always independent, Kim worked her way through school, earning Bachelor's & Master's degrees from Wichita State University and Baker University. She was an educator with Wichita Public Schools for 29 years. Kim had a true calling for teaching, impacting students and building treasured relationships with coworkers. Kim loved being a mom and brought creativity and amazing energy to that role as well. She was very proud of her children. Kim was a dutiful daughter; of much help to her parents. Kim was an avid traveler, particularly loving beach destinations. She "lived to shop" and decorate her amazing homes. Kim liked playing board games, watching Rom-Coms, and always had "Friends" playing in the background. We will miss Kim's gorgeous smile and kind manner. She was beautiful inside and out.
Kim is survived by her loving family, including daughter, Emma Taylor and partner, Jeremy Meyer of Winchester, VA; son, Jack Taylor of Wichita; mother, Mindy Kershaw of Wichita; father, John Kershaw of Wiley, TX; sister, Amber Kershaw of Springfield, MO; grandparents, John and Gloria Kershaw of Plano, TX; daughters-by-choice, Christina Taylor Herrera and Abby Taylor Garland; and her loving dogs, Pippa and Knox.
Kim is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Esther Karst; sister, Amy Hoban; and husband, Jeff Epley.
To celebrate Kim's life there will be a visitation and reception from 6-8pm, Tuesday, January 27, at the Cozine Life Events Center. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 28, also at the Cozine Life Events Center. A private interment will be at Kensington Gardens. To remember, and celebrate Kim, please wear an outfit that reminds you of her in some way. Whether this be a compliment she gave you while wearing it, what you wore during one of your favorite moments with her, or if you just want to remember her love of leopard print. Please wear a fun, colorful outfit as we celebrate Kim and her legacy.
