Kurt S

Kurt,43 of Wichita passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 15, 2024.

Kurt was born on September 1st , 1980 to Bill and Karen Schneweis in Wichita. After Kurt graduated from Northwest High School in 1998, he went on to study Computer Science at DeVry Institute. While this was his first venture into higher education it certainly was not his last and he greatly enjoyed the time he spent studying Cyber Security at Friends University.

Kurt created lasting and memorable friendships through-out his career path. His time at Craig Home Care only lasted a few years but was a great stepping stone towards his job at Intrust Bank, where he worked as a Software Developer. Following Intrust he found new friends and grew his employment skillset at DCI in Hutchinson. From DCI Kurt’s career path took him to PMMA where he worked as a Software Developer/Analyst alongside some of the greatest friends he had ever known.

When Kurt was 16, he met his future wife Amanda while dipping dilly bars at the Westlink Dairy Queen. The couple dated for 10 years before marrying on July 28, 2006. Kurt was an amazing and doting “father” to his cat Toby and super loving a playful dad with his dog Gracie. Kurt and Amanda were married for 16 years and together for more than 26.

Kurt was truly a kid at heart! He loved to play and laugh and have fun. He was his most genuine self when he was laughing or making others laugh. He had amazing friends who shared his humor and his wit and he would light up when talking about his interactions with them. He was thoughtful and kind and felt his best when he was making someone else’s life better. Figuring out friendship came late in life for Kurt but when he figured it out, he fell in love with it!!! His friends introduced him to Electronic Dance Music as well as D&D and a whole host of new restaurants and life experiences. He soaked it up.

While Kurt had a felt most at home with computers, books and learning, he could be coaxed into nature and exploring quite easily. His enjoyed the mountains and time outside walking with Graice and Amanda. He loved his family and friends deeply and was loved deeply in return.

In lieu of flowers, the family would enjoy plants that will live on in Kurt’s memory or donations to:
