Layne Adams

September 17, 1952 — January 13, 2022

Layne Adams, 69, died peacefully with his mother by his side on January 13, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas.

Robert Layne Adams was born September 17, 1952, to Robert James Adams and Neta Fern (Reeder) Adams in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Layne's career involved working in various capacities on film production crews.  Always creative, his passions were his art, photography and music.  From early childhood Layne was a seeker of his spiritual nature, which was often expressed through his artwork and  photography.

His best buddy was Baxter, an English Hound Dog.  He felt a deep love for family and friends alike.  He loved nature and capturing it's beauty with his camera.  Favorite pastimes included repeatedly watching episodes of The Andy Griffith Show (no one could make him chuckle like the character of Barney Fife), playing guitar and harmonica, watching football with his mom, watching wrestling, reading, and listening to all kinds of music.

Layne is survived by his mother, Neta Adams, two sisters, Melody Adams and Amy Adams, nieces Lora Shelton and Jessica Swaffar and her husband, Morgan, great nieces Taylor Shelton and Zoe Swaffar, and great nephew Jackson Shelton.  Also, ex-wife Vicki Darby and her daughter, Amy Darby Walker, aunts and uncle Sandra and Phil Sauthall, Theda Deaver and husband, Jim, cousins Reeder Reese, Darla Dunn, Dana Reese, Dawn Reese, Jack Reeder, Ross Reeder, Sherri Ritchey, Gail Reeder, Dean Reeder, Don Lester, David Reeder, Rodger Reeder, Rodney Hunsinger, Mollie Nagel, Walter Hancock, Todd Hancock, Chris Southall, Brad Southall, Raquel Adams and Richie Adams.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Adams, and nephew, Chris Shelton.  Also, aunts and uncles Ryvers and Helen Reeder, Edith and Wilson Lester, Roma and Hurshel McKee, Lloyd and Addie Reeder, Jack Reeder, Jr. and Vivian Reeder, Neville and Joe Hancock, Richard and Raquel Adams, and Bob Reese, cousins Charles Hunsinger, David Lester and Jerry Lester.
