Les Oehlert, 96, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Les was married to Constance Parker of Wichita for 58 years. They married in 1950 on Treasure Island, CA while he was serving his country in the Navy. They lived in Wichita where they raised their family. Les was born in Johnson County, KS to William and Alice Oehlert. He graduated from East High School and Wichita State University. He worked for various companies in record keeping. Les enlisted in the Navy in 1942; was released from active duty in 1946; joined the local Naval Reserve; was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict. Les retired from the Navy in 1972 after 30 years of regular and reserve service. He did a lot of volunteer work but especially enjoyed his many years with SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) counseling with people. He was also deeply engaged in the life of the church. Les deeply loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Oehlert. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Gerkin (Phil); son, Gary Oehlert (Rebecca); daughter, Laura Potter (Duane); and daughter, Karen Potts (Jim); grandchildren, Sarah, Ellen, Alice, Christie, Erica, Tyler, William, and Amanda; six great-grandchildren.
