King, Letha Mae, 93, passed away Feb. 11, 2017. She was born March 1, 1923, to Elmer and Clara (Reinhart) Hamlin. Letha grew up in Winfield and graduated from high school there in 1941. During World War II she worked at Boeing Plant One as a drill press operator on B-29 bombers. She worked on and watched the first B-29s roll off the assembly line. After the war she worked sales in the basement of Buck's Department Store in downtown Wichita. A friend introduced Letha to Joe C. King on a blind date, and they were married on June 3, 1950. They had two children. Once her children were older, Letha worked cashing checks at Wall's IGA.
Letha was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include son, Douglas K. (Lou Alice) King; daughter, Marsha K. King; grandson, Gareth C. King; and great-granddaughter, Cora Lynn King.
